What We Offer: Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) Options

  • Our team will help determine which NRT option is best suited to your needs. These include:
  • Nicotine Patches (Nicorette/Niquitin): Provides a controlled release of nicotine over 16-24 hours to reduce cravings.
  • Nicorette QuickMist: A fast-acting oral spray for instant craving relief.
  • Nicorette Inhalator: Mimics the action of smoking by allowing you to inhale nicotine vapor.
  • Nicorette Gum: A chewing gum that helps manage cravings by releasing nicotine gradually.
  • Niquitin Mini Lozenge/Lozenge: Slowly releases nicotine to help reduce withdrawal symptoms.
  • Vape Kit: Includes a vape device, atomizers, and vape liquid to replicate the smoking experience without the harmful chemicals in cigarettes.
  • Prescription Medications (Bupropion, Cytisinicline or Varenicline): Help to reduce cravings and withdrawal symptoms. If you choose this option, we can arrange prescriptions through your GP.

Why Quit Smoking?

Health Benefits:

  • 20 minutes after quitting: Blood pressure and pulse rate stabilize.
  • 24 hours after quitting: Carbon monoxide clears from the body, improving lung function.
  • 2-4 weeks after quitting: Cardio fitness improves, and withdrawal symptoms begin to ease.
  • 1 month after quitting: Energy levels increase, and breathing becomes easier.
  • 1 year after quitting: Your risk of a heart attack is cut in half compared to a smoker.

Financial Benefits:

  • If you smoke 10 cigarettes a day, quitting could save you over £200 per month—that’s nearly £2,500 a year!

Quit Day – Your First Step to Success

Your quit day is an important milestone! Beforehand:

  • Remove smoking reminders (cigarettes, ashtrays, and lighters)
  • Inform friends and family so they can support you
  • Use coping strategies discussed with your advisor to handle cravings

Why Quitting is Better Than Cutting Down

Many people believe cutting down gradually is a better option, but evidence shows quitting completely leads to greater success. Cutting down can result in compensatory smoking, where people inhale deeper and longer, reducing the benefits. Our support service requires full commitment to quitting for the best chance of success.
