You will need a computer or a tablet with audio and video that works. Mobile phones can be used, however be aware the screens are very small for viewing presentations.
If you are using a mobile, please ensure WIFI is enabled.
If you are using a computer or a laptop you do not need to download Zoom.
If you are using a tablet or an mobile phone you do need to download Zoom - for instructions on how to do this see below.
Work servers. Please note, often you are unable to use the Zoom platform if you are signed into your work server as the microphone and camera will not be enabled.
Check you are connected to your WIFI. You can do this by clicking on your WIFI icon at the bottom right hand corner of your screen.
Check your sound is turned up. You can do this by clicking your sound icon at the bottom right corner of your screen and adjust accordingly.
Joining a Zoom session
Approximately 10 minutes before the session is due to start you will receive an email, inviting you to join a Zoom Meeting. CLICK ON THE LINK to open the Zoom application. The joining instructions will then vary depending on the type of device you have;

Participant controls in the lower left corner of the Zoom screen:
Using the icons in the left corner of the Zoom screen, you can:.
Mute/Unmute your microphone (far left)
Turn on/off camera (“Start/Stop video”)
Click participants then click ‘More’ and rename to enter a new screen name (your name)
Click on More and select Chat to send a message (you can select chat to everyone or directly speak to an individual by selecting their name). Please ignore Manage Participants and Record options.
When you are ready to end the session click on ‘Leave Meeting’
Breaks: The trainer will be scheduling two 10-15-minute breaks in the session at approx. pm and pm. Further support: An administrator will be asssiting on the sessionto help you with any issues you may be having setting up or using Zoom. We will try and iron most things out at the beginning but if you need further help during the session, please email them on firstname.lastname@example.org.
4. Click on ‘Join with Computer Audio’. You could if you wish test your speaker and microphone before doing so.
Just in case: If this does not work you may need to go to your ‘Downloads’ file via File Explorer (on Taskbar) and click on Zoom download. You will then be asked to put in the Meeting ID and Password which came in the trainers email.
Joining a training session by a tablet, iPad or a mobile: 1. Download the ZOOM app from the App Store/Google Play or www.zoom.uk/download and follow the instructions.
